Introduction
The 53 settlements of Siklós subregion is geographically situated in the southern part of South Transdanubia, close to the Croatian border. Due to this location the region has great natural endowments as its climate is under mediterranean influence. The natural values of the territory like the outstanding beauty of the Danube- National Park or the Szársomlyó Nature reserve are internationally recognised.
Considering the tourist attractions of the area we have to mention the cultural values, the wine and spa tourism. Visitors are warmly welcomed by the Siklós Castle, the historical sites, the religious buildings and memorials, the highly respected wines of Villány Hill, the high standard spa facilities of Harkány and the gastronomical peculiarities offered by village tourism.
The local governments of the 53 settlements are held together by the Siklós Subregional Association regarding their regional development policy and civil service. A separate workgroup of the Association is dealing with the various features and demands of the 53 settlements in addition to the organization and coordination of tenders and local governmental duties.
